Week 3 Of MTC

Ahoj! This week has been awesome! I'll start off with probably the highlight of my week. I was just chillin last Thursday playing soccer at the field. Idk why I was playing soccer but it was low key pretty fun. After about 40 minutes of playing I hear somebody yell "ELDER WINEGAR". I was so confused but I looked over and saw Jake Stitcher! I didn't think I would see him for 4 straight years so it was so sick. We talked for about 30 seconds but then he got yelled at because the MTC isn't allowed to have visitors so we took a quick picture and I said goodbye to him for the next two years.

Some elders gave me this candy called Dutch liquorice so I was super excited to try it. It looked like those little Smileys fruit snacks so I was expecting them to be incredible. It was maybe the worst thing I've ever tasted in my life. Think of a clump of salt with a little bit of grape juice and that's basically what it was. I don't suggest trying it if anybody ever offers it to you.

I don't know if I said this in my last email but some dude in my room had to go to the hospital and now he uses crutches. Of course we had to make some games out of them. One of the games we made was how long we could balance on the crutches with our feet off the ground. I thought I would be good but I'm not. Two guys in my room got 8 seconds which is honestly insane. It sounds dumb but I think we are honestly so bored here that everything is fun and also funny at this point.

I found out as I've been going through the MTC that I actually need glasses. I thought I always had perfect vision but I think I might have been cheating. I would memorize the letters on the sheet when I had eye tests when I went to the doctor so they said my vision was great. I really regret that decision now but there's nothing I can do about it. Whenever we sing a song in class, my desk is in the opposite corner of the room from where the TV is so I can't read the music at all. Next time you guys see me I might be wearing glasses, who knows.

Another thing that I got told at least 3 times this week is that “on paper” I’m supposed to be a mean guy because I am good at basketball and volleyball, but I’m actually a super nice and cool dude so that was super encouraging and gave me a lot of confidence. Maybe too much confidence so I need to be humbled a little bit but it's ok.

Last night I saw a bag of mint life savers and it brought me back to 6th grade science camp where when you bite into it when it's dark it makes a spark. I showed the guys in my room and we were all going crazy, it was so sick.

This week one of the big takeaways I had was how the holy ghost works in some amazing ways. If you are reading this email there has definitely been a time in my life where you made a huge impact on me and may not have even noticed. Sometimes just from being nice to someone, you can be an answer to their prayers and not even realize it. I was reading a talk this week from Elder Robert C. Gay and there was a super good quote that says “ The ultimate foundation of all you do in life should be to live so that the voice and integrity of the spirit take precedence as the powerful, necessary force in determining your actions, both professionally and personally.” If we are living an obedient life and are doing the best we can, the holy ghost will always be there with us even if we don't realize it. Throughout the MTC I have really seen the Holy Ghost working in my life and it's so cool to see.

I hope you guys all have a great rest of your week! Please send me an email or a message on facebook! Love you guys
