I GOT MY VISA
I GOT MY VISA!!! I'm officially going to the Czech Republic and I am so excited. I was the last one to turn in my VISA out of my district, so if anybody didn't get their VISA it would've been me. We all somehow got our VISAs last wednesday and all of us are going to Czech on October 6th and I can't wait!
I feel like every week at the MTC is the exact same, but I’m going to try my best to make this somewhat of an interesting email. This past week me and Elder Eaton had the chance to play real volleyball against 2 other guys from my district and it felt so nice to actually play again. Of course me and Elder Eaton won but Elder Burke and Olsen are actually not too bad so it was super fun. I also played basketball with Elder Grover yesterday and we were going crazy. This past week was a lot of studying and trying to learn the language the best I could so there's nothing too much to talk about haha.
Me and Elder Rowe had our second lesson in all Czech. I had another great experience of trying to say one word but totally saying a different one. I walk into the room this time and sit down on the couch. I look at the guy we were teaching and tried to ask him “jaký byl tvůj týden?” which means “How was your week?” Instead of saying that, I managed to say “jaký byl tvůj tanec?” which means “How was your dance?” The dude looked at me with so much confusion. He looked at me and repeated the word tanec and laughed at me. It was another super humbling moment and I know there will be plenty more of those and that's ok. Other than that, our lesson was going pretty good and we taught him about God and it was going great. I asked him who God was because that's a super simple question and I knew how to say it in czech. He proceeded to ask me 2 of the hardest questions I've ever been asked and I probably couldn't have even answered them in English so I still have a lot of work to do and that's why I'm still at the MTC.
We got some new districts in our branch last week and one of them is an ASL district. It was super cool to go around and meet all of them. Two of the elders in that district are actually deaf and it was so inspiring to see them going on a mission. I talked to one guy that is actually going to Mesa, AZ so I was making some pretty cool connections with him about that and he could totally understand me. He is the best lip reader I have ever seen and understood everything I said and even responded back in perfect English. It was incredible and I can't wait to talk to them more throughout these next few weeks.
I was reading another conference talk this week and there was a quote that really stood out to me. “Don't yield to Satan's lie that you don't have time to study the scriptures. Choose to take time to study them. Feasting on the word of God each day is more important than sleep, school, work, television shows, video games, or social media. You may need to reorganize your priorities to provide time for the study of the word of God. If so, do it!” - elder Richard g. Scott. It can be really easy to make excuses to not read the Book of Mormon, and that's exactly how I was before my mission. If I had any free time during the day I would take out my phone and look at social media or watch a youtube video. I would look back at my day and think that I had no time to read my scriptures, when I actually had hours every day to pull out my scriptures and read for like 5 minutes. I would have received so many more blessings just by that small thing and I've really noticed the blessings I've been receiving from really studying and reading the scriptures consistently every day for the past 6 weeks.
Sorry this week wasn’t anything crazy, but it’s been a grind the past week and I’ve been learning so much. Email me or message me if you guys can. Love all you guys!
