5th Week In Prague

After writing this email I just realized how long it was so I would be impressed if any of you guys read it all, but 5TH WEEK IN PRAGUE! It's honestly crazy because I feel like I got here like 1 or 2 weeks ago but I've been here for 5 Sundays now which is actually insane. I'll start my email with a really cool thought that one of the senior missionaries had at church yesterday. He told us to imagine we were standing and the sun was behind us. We could look forward and our shadow is on the ground right in front of us. That shadow is all of our fears, regrets, things we are scared of, ig just all the bad things you could think about haha. When you turn around towards the sun, which another way you could say that is the Son/Jesus Christ, you are turning away from all the bad things in the world that you don’t need to worry about. So everybody should turn to Christ in their life so that they can feel comfort and peace instead of being scared of their fears and the bad things that are happening in their life right now.

Now I'll talk about some cool things that happened this week. We are teaching this really cool guy named Peter. He’s like a 50 year old dude, has a couple daughters and I'm pretty sure he's loaded. He’s pretty much ready to be baptized but he just wants to make sure he's like super ready which is great. We were in the middle of a really good lesson and then he started telling us how grateful he was for us and the other missionaries that taught him. He ended up saying that if we could he would want us to marry his daughters and it caught us by surprise haha. He followed that up by saying that they were 11 and 13 years old which made it even a little more crazy. Me and my comp looked at each other with some wide eyes and Peter said he was kidding but it was still funny. Our lessons with him are actually really good and they are all in English which means I can help a lot in those lessons.

We were getting on the metro earlier this week and my comp starts talking to a dude and then after about 5 seconds they stopped talking. I thought that was my time to jump in or something so i started to talk and my comp was like wait stop he said he doesn't want to talk. I guess it was a good thing I didn’t understand because me and the dude started talking and had a great conversation and I even gave him a Book of Mormon. It was really cool, and that was one of the few times where not understanding something worked out in a positive way, it was pretty cool.

I had another really cool contacting situation because I've been trying to memorize some scripture mastery and that's actually one of our mission goals. I memorized Mosiah 4: 9 one morning and left the apartment to go to the church. After about 5 minutes of walking we talked to a teenage kid that didnt believe in god. I handed him a book of Mormon and shared with him that Mosiah verse and it was perfect for him and I really think it changed the way he thinks about things now. It's cool how when you put in effort to do something it really does pay off!

A few more cool things that happened this week was that we had a zone pday last Monday and I got to carve some Pumpkins with Elder Rowe/ My Mtc Comp so that was sick. He did a lot of the carving and stuff and I did more of the talking with other people. I actually didn’t even touch the inside of the pumpkin one time, but I'd say we both did a great job haha. We played a big game of mafia with about 30 people and it was like a 2 hour game. The sad part was that somebody decided to kill me the first night so i got to play for a total of 5 seconds, but then we played secret hitler that same day and i was the first one dead in that game too, BUT THEN for our Halloween Party we played musical chairs with about 30 people again and I was the first person out in that game as well. It was a rough few days with games but it's ok. We had exchanges with the AP’s and slept over at their place, but they gave me soo much great advice on studying the language and just how to be a great missionary so it was super cool. Last thing would be that I somehow got off the tram while my comp stayed on, SO i decided that the only way i could catch up to him would be if I ran to the next stop. The mile and a half for basketball really kicked in here cause I was sprinting for about 5 minutes straight and made it to the next stop, BUT there was a tram going back the other direction towards the stop I just ran from and in the tram i see Elder Konushin dying laughing and waving at me. I turned around and ran 5 minutes back the other direction in my church clothes and mission bag and got there with like a second to spare to get on the next tram to go back to the stop I just ran from. It sucked in the moment but it's actually really funny looking back on it. And I got to play basketball for like 2 hours on Friday night so that was sick.

I'll end with a little more spiritual stuff about the Book of Mormon! Personal study is one of my favorite parts of the day and especially when I'm reading the Book of Mormon. As a missionary there are lots of things to stress about and when I'm having my personal studies everything I'm worried about disappears. It’s so cool how much power the Book of Mormon has and it's sad that I'm just now realizing that on my mission, but that's why I'm on a mission, so that I can share that power with other people. Everybody needs peace in their life and the Book of Mormon gives that to us.

Love all you guys! Send me an email if you have time, Its great hearing from all of you guys! -hayden....@missionary.org
