Tento Týden Byl Další Skvělý Týden!
Tento týden byl další skvělý týden! This week was awesome and I've had a few of the most fun and cool experiences this week. Mostly fun tho haha. This week was super cool because we had Mission Conference. Our mission has 1 mission conference every year and it was so cool!
Because we had mission conference, a general authority named Elder Alliaud came to czechia! The dude was so cool. One of the greatest things about being in Prague is that I'm super spoiled haha. I get so many cool experiences and so much extra stuff that I won't get for the rest of my mission. One of the perks I got this past week was to take Elder Alliaud and his wife from dinner to their hotel. It was a big deal for us haha, we were stoked to first off, drive a car, and then also to talk with a general authority and ask him a bunch of questions. Well I was in charge of the directions. And there is only one marriot in all of Prague, so I typed in Marriott and clicked on the top one. Because that's the only Marriott in Prague right, so there should only be one thing that pops up. Well it actually ended up being the wrong one and it took us to the most random place in the middle of prague. So instead of an 8 minute drive to their hotel, it turned into a 32 minute drive. It was a complete accident but I got to talk to a general authority for 4 times the amount I was supposed to. He definitely still thinks we took him the wrong way on purpose but it's ok cause he probably doesn't even remember me anymore. Super cool experience tho.
I also got to have a Thanksgiving dinner with my mission president and the other missionaries in Prague. Prague is the best haha. But before that, we had a 2 hour lesson in Russian, my brain was actually about to explode. It was terrible because for an hour straight my comp was trying to explain that there was only 1 Joseph Smith. I never thought that somebody could believe that there could be multiple Joseph Smiths but I was wrong. Russian is the worst and I only understand when they say yes and thanks. That's it. So it's brutal when I'm sitting in a room hearing Russian for 2 straight hours.
We had mission conference in Brno and that's about 2 and a half hours away, so we woke up at 4:45 and packed up a big van full of 8 missionaries to get there in time. It was great. Mission conference was a lot of fun and I met a lot of new missionaries and got to be with some of my closest friends here in Czechia for 2 days. And the general authority preached to us for the whole day and I learned so much. The next day we had MLC. MLC is for all of the zone leaders, sister training leaders and AP's. So basically all of the really good missionaries. But, since I'm technically part of the social media crew, I got to go too. I think I was the first ever missionary in their first transfer to ever go to an MLC before. I'm so lucky haha. We got fed lunch and got to listen to Elder Alliad talk for like 3 more hours. So freaking cool. We also had a big choir fireside and killed it singing some Czech songs.
We drove back that night and got home at like 11:30 so the next day was rough but we went contacting with the APs again. It's always so much fun and we actually have a lot of success with it as well. My comp and Elder Wagner gave a lesson in a coffee shop to a person they met on the street. The dude was super cool and wanted to learn more. So me and Elder Oldroyd went together to the literal ghettos of Prague. I'm never going there again, it was so sketch. But on the way back we found a dude on the metro and talked to him. Gave him a book of Mormon and then it was super cool because we also prayed with him while we were in the metro. It was really weird but a super cool experience. I never thought I would be praying with a random dude inside of a Prague metro. What the crap haha.
We did some more service on Saturday for a lady and cleaned her windows for 2 hours with the STLs and she gave us some of the best lunch ever. We also made some gingerbread. I love the service here. We either play volleyball for 4 hours, clean windows and get a bunch of food, or help people with other random things. Super cool.
It started snowing here and it's so cold. I don't lose snowball fights, my comp would disagree but it's ok. Snow is great. Other than that my week has been so sick. A lot of random and fun stuff but it was great and I learned a lot. I've got two more weeks of my first transfer and I'm learning so much. The language is still brutal and I'm really praying for the gift of tongues cause I'm gonna need it next transfer. I still have no clue what people are saying when they talk with my comp. Not a single word gets put in my brain when they are talking. I just try my best, so maybe say a few extra prayers that i can start to understand people a little more. Other than that I have my own conversations with people and as long as they know I'm learning Czech it usually goes pretty well.. It's so much better then just like 5 weeks ago which is so cool to think about.
3 Nephi 27:21 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, this is my gospel; and ye know the things that ye must do in my church; for the works which ye have seen me do that shall ye also do; for that which ye have seen me do even that shall ye do” Jesus is our greatest example! We should strive to live our lives the way Jesus would! Also read the Book of Mormon! It is the truth! It can help you with anything you are going through right now no matter what it is.
That's it for this week! Love you guys, have a good week! Also send me an email if you have time! I love hearing from all you guys!
