VESELÉ VÁNOCE VŠEM
Veselé Vánoce všem!! It's Christmas! It's crazy cause I still feel like it was just a couple weeks ago when it was summer. But now it's Christmas and this Christmas is going to be way different than any other Christmas I've had but it's gonna be great.
This week was insane and filled with so many different feelings and things haha. Last P day was a lot of fun. We went to Charles Bridge and took a bunch of pictures in our Christmas sweaters. My district is goated so p days are always a lot of fun. We went to some Christmas markets and then played sports for like 3 hours. It's crazy how it's warm enough to play sports here but the weather just changes randomly all the time. It was freezing about a month ago and then on p day it was like really good weather and we played sports. But then it snowed again this week and it was freezing most days. It's super weird.
Missionary work during Christmas here is honestly hard. I feel like everybody I talk to is in the worst mood ever and it's so frustrating haha. Every time I try to start a conversation, the person looks at me like I'm crazy, or they walk away, or they just say they are doing terrible and stare at me. It's brutal haha. I thought Christmas was supposed to be a happy time, but not for Czechs ig. It's cause they don't know the true meaning of CHRISTmas! I just wish they would let me tell them who Christ is but some days they just don't want to talk haha.
This week I had one of the worst days of my mission and I had so many different emotions going through my head. Me and my comp were contacting at this one Namesti in Prague and it was raining and super cold and hecka windy. And not a single person wanted to talk with us, but we were walking and I look at my phone and it was getting spammed with text messages. I saw some texts from 2 companionships in my district and they both said something like “We are safe”. I was like what the crap. Then I got a text from my mission prez saying something like “All Prague missionaries need to get home immediately, there has been a shooting in Prague.” I looked at my comp and just started sprinting. After about an hour and a half of helping the sisters get home and getting to our home, we had to stay in our apartment the rest of the day. It sucked, all day and night we just heard sirens literally everywhere. It's so sad that somebody could feel like it's ok to do something like that, especially during Christmas time.
Other than that, my days have been great haha. One lady called me and said that she needed a blessing. I honestly had no clue what she was saying, but I heard “priesthood blessing” and a bunch of other Czech words. I told her we could come as soon as possible and just needed her address. Then we called our boy Tadeáš to come help us with the blessing. It was such a cool experience, cause about a month ago I had the opportunity to give Tadeas the Melchizedek priesthood and I got to witness him give his first ever blessing this week. It was such a cool experience for all of us, even though I had no clue what he said in the blessing haha.
Christmas Eve was great here! I got to go to lunch with my whole district to this one grandma's house. She fed us some really good food. I had a headache after hearing Czech for such a long time but I really understood a lot of the conversation when I was really focusing. It was sick. Then later that night we went to the Johnsons home, or the senior companions in our district. They fed us a really good Christmas meal that I would have back at home. It was so much fun and I loved every part of it. I guess I'll probably write what happened on Christmas in my next email.
But I'll just end by saying I know that Jesus Christ Is the Son of God! Christmas is a time for us to remember that. This is my first Christmas where I've really focused on that and I'm starting to understand and love Jesus Christ even more. In my short time here in Prague, I've learned so many different lessons. With that, my testimony of Jesus Christ has grown more than I ever thought it could. The more we try to be like Christ, the Closer we come to him! Love you guys and hope you have the best Christmas ever! Veselé Vánoce!
