Dont Punch Elevators
Don't punch elevators, that was the lesson I learned this week. On Saturday morning we went to a member's apartment with the APs to help them move. We took all of the crap from the basement where they were moving and took that to the dump. While they took that stuff to the dump, we went to the old apartment and started to move everything from their apartment downstairs. It was going good for the first 5 ish minutes, we took a dresser and some other things in the elevator and brought that downstairs. We got back in the elevator and pressed floor number 3 and the doors started to close. Then my comp decided to “push” the button that opens the door. He says he just pushed it but it was somewhat of an aggressive “push”. The door stopped halfway from closing and the whole elevator kinda just shut down. We tried a bunch of stuff to get it to work for the next few minutes and gave up. We walked up stairs and I looked at the cool mom and said “Výtah nefunguje” which means “the elevator doesn't work”. She then asked “co se stalo” which means what happened and I just responded with the most confused face and said “já nevím, ale nefunguje” “idk, but it doesn't work”. She felt bad and started to apologize and we just kept telling her that it was OK. Cause for the next 30-45 minutes we were walking up 3 flights of stairs with some big boxes and stuff cause we broke the elevator, it was super fun.
The rest of this week was some very long cold days, with some pretty boring days. On Monday night we did some quick exchanges with the APs. I went to go teach a lesson with a dude that got baptized about a month ago. Me and Elder Monty pulled up to his house and talked to him for about an hour and a half. The crazy part is that the room we were having our lesson in was filled with about 50 to 60 bottles of alcohol. Bro literally just got baptized and got the priesthood 2 weeks ago. I really do believe that he is following the word of wisdom but you never know when he's got that much alcohol chillin in his small apartment.
On Wednesday morning I woke up at 6:15 and I was ready to have an amazing morning with my workout and studies. I walked into the kitchen and there was water everywhere. I walked back into my room and said “Lawrence bro, you're not gonna be happy. Come look at our kitchen”. One of our pipes broke so it was spraying water the whole night. It's all good now, the water is gone and we have some new pipes, just a little bit of water damage.
Our friend Peter came to church yesterday and he wants to get baptized before I leave Prague which is super cool. It will be the first baptism from a person that I've taught. Hopefully everything keeps going smoothly with him and maybe say some extra prayers for him. He's a stud and it's been so cool to get to know him these past several months. I don't remember if I said this in my last email, but our other friend Martin is going to get baptized in a lake in May. That's cool and we are just trying to figure everything out before his baptism and we have a lot of time but he's doing really good.
Good little scripture to end the email. Alma 26;35 “Now have we not reason to rejoice? Yea, I say unto you, there never were men that had so great reason to rejoice as we, since the world began; yea, and my joy is carried away, even unto boasting in my God; for he has all power, all wisdom, and all understanding; he comprehendeth all things, and he is a merciful Being, even unto salvation, to those who will repent and believe on his name.” This chapter is such a good chapter, read it if you have time this week.
Love you all! Send me a quick email if you can! Have a great week!
