Uchtdorf, Mission Conference, Blessings
There was honestly not a single bad thing about this week! It was just straight up full of blessings and some amazing experiences. Just a little heads up, this might be a longer email.
So Monday was super normal, we did pretty much nothing for Pday except we got haircuts and I got a volleyball. It was a solid day. We ended the day with a member meal and they fed us some fettuccine and Alfredo except It was spaghetti with some blue cheese/gravy mix. Tasted the exact same, was actually pretty good.
Tuesday it started to get hectic. So we left sometime in the morning to prague on a train. A lot of crazy stuff and confusion was happening but I ended up driving in a car to Brno with my old comp Elder Lawrence. It was a good drive and when we got to Brno we met up with some other missionaries. I ended up going contacting for the last 3 hours of the day with elder Rowe and it was a lot of fun. It was my first time really walking around the city of Brno and it was a pretty cool place. I would love to serve there at one point. We slept in Brno that night with 3 other companionships, I slept on a couch and it was the worst sleep of my mission.
We woke up at 4:40 Wednesday morning to get ready and head to Ostrava for mission conference. Mission conference was amazing. We started off just talking with all the other missionaries for a bit, so fire. And then i had a choir practice and then we did a dry run of a bunch of stuff. During lunch we all went outside and got ready to take a picture. Elder Uchtdorf pulled up in his car and we all too a big mission picture, I guess I'm the second tallest Elder in the mission which is kinda cool, according to the picture. We walked inside and all got to shake president Uchtdorfs hand. The conversation I had with him consisted of, "Elder winegar, I have winegars in my neighborhood!"- Elder Uchtdorf. "Thats awesome!" - me. And then "it was great meeting you Elder winegar" - Uchtdorf. That's all I got but definitely super cool, and then his wife asked me why I had a different tie then the rest of the elders. They were all wearing Kroj ties which is like the mission tie. But I didn't catch the memo and just wore one of my normal ties that I like better. Uchtdorf only ended up talking to us for about 25 minutes, but He talked about so many different things and probably answered every single person's questions. It was super cool and he definitely answered a lot of my questions.
A couple of the big take aways i got out of it is that,
1. Every day is a new slate, so when we fulfill our commitments we made as missionaries we will feel good. It's an ongoing repentance cycle every day but that means we get a new start every day.
2. I need to live in a way to receive the holy ghost. That means doing all the small and simple things as well as the big things. Everybody does things that take away from the spirit so I'm trying to focus on doing those little things better.
3. The last big take away is that as missionaries and just members of the church in general, we can make any place feel like a temple because of our presence. We had our mission conference in an old coal mine, but the feeling inside of that place was the feeling of a temple. It was incredible! So we really have the power to make anywhere a temple because of our presence. Such a powerful thought!
Well the rest of that day was pretty great and ended up getting back to Brno at around 11:30. It was a crazy, exhausting day, but so awesome.
We woke up that next morning at like 5:45 again to travel to a place called mlade boleslav for an exchange with the ZLs. Such an awesome day with elder Hrnčiřik! I learned a lot and definitely got humbled with how many things I am really bad at. I've got so many things to work on to be a good missionary but still an amazing day.
Friday we had two first lessons with some people, they were really good lessons. One guy was from Guana and I have high hopes for him. He's such a stud.
Saturday was a pretty normal day. Czech Republic made it to the semifinals for the world hockey championship so our town square was going crazy for that. We got to watch a few minutes of that game and they ended up winning. So the finals were on Sunday.
Sunday was another amazing day. Our friend Dominika came to church which was awesome. She told me and some of the branch members that she wants to be baptized on Tuesday. That is super awesome but... we don't know if she is ready yet. She has a super interesting situation where she is moving to Switzerland this week and wants to get baptized before she leaves. We haven't taught her like half the stuff yet but she says that she believes everything is true. We have a lesson with a really awesome member and her tonight to figure out how it will work and if it is possible to baptize her this week. That could be really cool and a huge miracle if it happens, we just need to make sure she is ready and understands what baptism actually is. My friend Peter Valert from Prague came to Cbud for about an hour on Sunday afternoon so we met with him. It was so awesome to see him and see how he's doing. He has grown so much just in the past 2 months since he was baptized. His testimony just keeps growing and it makes me so happy. Bro is such a stud and it was awesome catching up with him. Also that big crazy hockey game was on Sunday night. I don't actually know what the score was or who won, but maybe czechia is the best hockey team in the world as of right now. Or second best.
Some other crazy stuff happened during the week but I've already wrote so much. Everything is going so well right now, me and my comp are getting along super well after 9 weeks, our area is starting to see some blessings and Miracles. I'm just praying that we keep seeing some blessings during these next few weeks and that everything keeps going great.
Love you guys and hope you have another awesome week!!
