Good Stuff
Another amazing week here in Mladá Boleslav! We had some pretty funny and good things happen this week. I don't know if I'll be able to share the stories as well as I would like, but I'll try my best.
The week started off with a good exchange with the elders from Čbud, one of my favorite areas I've served in. They are awesome! We had some running sushi during pday which was a good time. Then i got to work with elder clayton for the next few days! He's in his second transfer, but already such a good missionary.
Later on in the week we had some pretty good lessons with our friend Natalie! She's doing super great and will go to a baptism with us this Friday to see what it's likes. She has gone from not believing in God at all and never thinking about it, to pretty much believing in God and seeing a change in her life because of it! It's been a little bit of a long process, but we will hopefully put her on bap date this week and hope she continues to progress like she is right now.
There was a few funny stories from this week, but I don't think i would be able to write them out good enough. But there was a really cool experience with a referal we received this week. Her phone wasn't working or anything but we saw that she was from a village with like 15 houses in it and it was like a 30 minute drive away from us. So we went there a started knocking on some doors and stuff asking if they knew the person we were looking for. They all kept saying no and we were just like bro, how does nobody know these people. A couple houses later and some conversations with old dudes not wearing enough clothes in 25 degree weather, we finally talked to this super awesome young mom with her 2 year old daughter and she knew who we were looking for. She was super concerned when she said the name. But pretty much the person we were looking for was from a Romani(a group of people that all czechs are super racist towards) family. She said that she would never go over there because it wasn't safe but we could give it a shot. So we walked over and there was trash literally everywhere, pretty much the scum of the entire czech republic, but we walked up and I asked for the girl. So she came and when we were talking with her there were liken 10 other people listening to our conversation and it was a super cool experience to testify of the Book of Mormon that none of them have ever heard before. Definitely a highlight of my week and a cool experience I'll always remember. This email is already too long but, this week was great!
"Note that the Lamanites were not converted to the missionaries who taught them or to the excellent programs of the Church. They were not converted to the personalities of their leaders or to preserving a cultural heritage or the traditions of their fathers. They were converted unto the Lord—to Him as the Savior and to His divinity and doctrine—and they never did fall away." Elder Bednar
One of the greatest things I've learned this past year and half is that members here in the Czech Republic don't stay active unless they have a super strong testimony of the restored gospel and the truths that come from it. There's been parts of my mission when I would hesitate to invite people to church because I knew there we be like 1 or 2 members there and us missionaries with a total of like 4 or 5 people. Right now I'm lucky to have at least 15-20 at church every week. But being a member here in the czech Republic is super hard and it's inspired me in soo many ways. Like elder bednar said, we must be converted to the Lord, and we will never fall away. We are super lucky to have excellent programs back at home in America, but none of it matters unless we truly have a testimony of the Gospel, a belief in God and everything else that comes with it.
Love you all!! Have a good week!
